That depends upon what you're hunting with us:
For Mallards, Quail, Pheasant:
Because we are a hunting preserve for these birds, you do not need a Georgia hunting license to harvest them. You only need a Preserve License, which we sell, for $12 per person.
For all other game:
You are required to be properly licensed. We expect our hunters to research and abide by all license requirements for the state of Georgia and for the species that they will be hunting. If you are approached by a DNR officer while hunting on our property and do not have proper licensing, the outcome will be your responsibility. If you have specific questions or concerns, give us a call.
Yes, Broomsedge holds a hunting preserve license for mallards, pheasants and quail. This means that our hunters enjoy an extended hunting season for these game species.
We do sell Preserve Licenses (see above) for hunting mallards, quail, and pheasant. The licenses are $12 per person.
No, we do not currently sell GA hunting licenses, but they are available for purchase online or nearby during business hours by a local license seller, which we can guide you to if needed.
Yes, all Broomsedge hunters are required to sign a hunting waiver before they can begin their hunt. Please read the entire waiver before signing.
Children under 12 can hunt at no charge with a paying adult. For hunts that have limits, the child’s harvest will go against the adult’s limit. Children hunting towards their own limit must pay as an adult. All minors (under 18) must hunt under adult supervision.
Our Pro Shop stocks a good selection of firearms from the Benelli line for both rental and/or purchase. We also carry ammunition. We're happy to guide you if you want to make purchases before or during your visit.
No, tips are not included in the price of the hunt. Our guides and cooks appreciate tips and rely on them for a portion of their pay. They understand that their tips reflect guest satisfaction.
10-20% of the total cost of your hunting experience is typically how much to tip a hunting guide and/or cook/housekeeper. For example; if your hunt is $350 and your lodging is $200, the typical tip would be $35-70 for the guide and $20-$40 for the cook/housekeeper.
We recommended that tips be given to guides, cooks and any support staff directly working for you, the hunter, during your experience. Keep in mind that guides and cooks do a lot of pre-hunt work to prepare for your visit.
Yes, field-trained and disciplined hunting dogs are welcomed at our lodges and at our hunts. Dogs are not permitted in the main lodge public area. They are not allowed to sleep in the lodge beds. Kennels/crates are recommended.
For quail and pheasant, we require everyone in the field wear blaze orange.
For deer hunting, blaze should be worn per GA hunter safety requirements. For our deer hunters, A hunter, and anyone accompanying the hunter, must wear as an outer garment at least 500 square inches of daylight fluorescent orange above the waist (which may include a head covering) when hunting.
All deposits are non-refundable. If you pay in full at the time of the booking, a refund of 50% will be issued if canceled 30 days in advance of the scheduled hunt. All approved refunds will be issued within 7-10 business days. We will be happy to reschedule a trip at no extra charge, with at least 24 hours notice.
